Children's museum Grand Rapids Style

We have never been in the children's museum, so this week having Emily here in GR, we were excited to go. I guess it just looks funny to go into a children's museum if you dont have a child with you.

Great things there to do, from a construction zone with wheelbarrows and "dirt" in the form of ground up old tires, to making bubbles, and shopping carts with play food. To much to do for a few hours time before the melt down begins.

Robinettes with Grandma

On a beautiful fall day the end of September, Pop and I took Grandma out to Robinettes for lunch. She took all of us out there so many times, and we thought it would be a wonderful treat for her to be there. She ate her lunch but had her eye on a large chocolate covered carmel apple that pop had bought and a bag of peanut brittle that we had bought for her. She loves her sweets. She kept moving the two closer and closer to her, until we cut a piece of the apple for her. We packed her a bad of a small piece of the apple to take back to the "manor" with her and we couldnt get it out of her hand to put her coat on. She had it clutched so tightly, I think she was afraid we would change our minds and take it from her.

From Elmwood to West Elm

Joel moved to West Elm which is in the heart of downtown Chicago.  We helped him move in, or rather we helped him assemble his furniture from Ikea.  Thank goodness for power tools.  He has a beautiful apartment with an amazing view not only to the South down State and Rush Streets, but also to the East where you can see Lake Michigan.

Pop, Joel and I went on a boat tour to see all the amazing buildings that are in Chicago especially those around the Chicago River

Leaves but Little Color

The leaves are falling, but this year there has been little color. It seems the leaves will turn directly to brown and fall (not that there is anything wrong with brown). The sun was beautiful on Saturday and so Pop decided to get some of the leaves out to the street before we have too many to blow. Yes, there are lots more on the trees.

I on the other hand spent my afternoon buying and loading my new ipod. I was surprised how much money I could spend just loading songs.

The last weekend in September we flew to San Francisco to see Jeff and Missy. Tim loved driving up and down the steep streets of the city. We drove to the coast to see the ocean as well as the quaint little town of Half Moon Bay where we had lunch. Of course we drove across the golden gate bridge, no trip to San Francisco would be complete without seeing it or the view of the city from the bridge. The sun was shining brilliantly on the city creating a spectactular view. Jeff showed us a glimpse of his school, San Jose State as well as the city of San Jose. The dog park was a daily visit to tire Goober and Jackie as well as to meet their friends, but we learned that Bonnie was not their friend, stay away from Bonnie.




This past weekend we went to see Emily....Jason and Sandy too. Joel happened to be in DC on business, so we got to see him too. On Saturday we walked through Georgetown, stopping at Dawn Price (a baby shop) and Patagonia, and Johnny Rocket's for lunch. At night we enjoyed a delicious dinner of soup and pasta prepared by Jason. At night we sat around the new firepit and roasted s'mores. On Sunday we decided against going to a pumpkin farm and went to Safeway and bought pumpkins. Then on to Marty's to watch the Lions. Later that night we all carved our pumpkins (even cousin Davey, who dropped by)
